Thursday, July 6: USA – Tel Aviv

Depart today towards the Holy Land.

 

Friday, July 7: Tel Aviv – Jerusalem

In Tel Aviv, meet your tour escort and drive to Jerusalem to enjoy a panoramic view of Jerusalem from Mt. Scopus. (D)

 

Saturday, July 8: Jerusalem – Ein Karem – Shepherds’ Field – Bethlehem – Jerusalem

Before leaving Jerusalem, we will have a panoramic view and Bible study from the Mount of Olives, a most hallowed place for Christians. Afterwards, travel into the “hill country of Judea” to the city of Ein Karem, visiting Mary’s well, the Church of the Visitation, and the Church of St. John the Baptist. We then continue to “Boaz’s Field” to visit the cave of the Shepherds, where the angels appeared and announced the birth of Christ. Following lunch and a visit to Bethlehem wood carver’s co-op, we will continue to the royal City of David, to pray at the Cave of the Nativity, the birthplace of the Savior. Dinner and overnight at Notre Dame Hotel in Jerusalem. (BB, D)

 

Sunday, July 9: Qasr Al-Yahud – Jericho – Nazareth – Tabgha

Today we begin with a journey to the Jordan River to visit the ancient baptismal site of the Lord. Afterwards, we will continue to Jericho, the city where Joshua and the Israelites began their conquest of the Promised Land, to view the Mountain of the Temp-tation. Then, we travel to Nazareth for Divine Liturgy in the Synagogue Church, followed by a visit to Mary’s Well in the Church of St. Gabriel. Enjoy a stroll through Nazareth’s colorful bazaar as we walk Mary’s road to her home, the site of the Annunciation. Before leaving Nazareth we will visit Mount Precipice. Dinner and overnight at Pilgerhaus Hotel. (BB, D)

 

Monday, July 10: Valley of the Doves – Sea of Galilee – Tabgha

We start our day with a visit to the Valley of the Doves; this valley is the route Jesus would have taken from Nazareth to the Sea of Galilee. Next, we will make our way to the seashore to experience the place where Our Lord called the Apostles, followed by our first visit to the “Town of Jesus”: Capernaum. Here we will enter the ancient Jewish synagogue and view Peter’s house. Continuing our day, we will visit the Mount of Beatitudes, the scene of the Sermon on the Mount, as well as the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes. Dinner and overnight at Pilgerhaus. (BB, D)

 

Tuesday, July 11: Capernaum – Tabgha

This morning we start with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Afterwards, return to Capernaum for a Bible study on the Bread of Life (Jn 6), followed by a visit to the Church of the Twelve Apostles. Then enjoy a free afternoon on the Sea of Galilee and conclude the day with a walk to the Church of Mensa Christi, where Christ appeared to the Apostles after the Resurrection. Return to the Pilgerhaus for dinner and overnight. (BB, D)

 

Wednesday, July 12: Jerusalem

Leaving the Sea of Galilee, we will begin our day with a drive to Mt. Tabor to enjoy beautiful views of the Plain of Esdraelon. Mt. Tabor is the site of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ, during which He began to radiate light and was seen conversing with Moses and Elijah. Here we will visit the Monastery of the Transfiguration and enjoy a Bible study from the terrace overlooking the Jezreel Valley. Next, we will journey through the Jordan Valley to Jericho to see the sycamore tree which Zacchaeus climbed so that he might see Jesus. Our last stop will be at the Dead Sea for a dip into its salty waters. Dinner and overnight at Notre Dame Hotel in Jerusalem. (BB, D)

 

Thursday, July 13: Pater Noster – St. Anne – Pools of Bethsaida & Siloam – Western Wall Excavations – Hezekiah’s Tunnel

Begin the morning with a visit to the Church of Pater Noster, followed by the Church of St. Anne, erected over the traditional site of the birthplace of the Virgin Mary. After a Bible study at the Pool of Bethsaida excavations, identified as the scene of the healing of the paralytic, we will visit the Temple Mount area and tour through the southern excavations where Jesus met the woman caught in adultery. Following lunch, we will enjoy an optional walk to Hezekiah’s Tunnel and the Pool of Siloam, where Jesus cured a blind man. Dinner and overnight at Notre Dame. (BB, D)

 

Friday, July 14: Bethany – Dominus Flevit – Gethsemane – Caiphas’ House – Way of Christ’s Passion

Today we leave Jerusalem and drive through the Jordan Valley to Bethany, the place of Lazarus’ tomb. Walking the Palm Sunday road, we will make our way to the Church of Dominus Flevit, where Our Lord wept over the city of Jerusalem. Continuing down the Mount of Olives into the Kidron Valley, we will pray in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Our Lord began the way of His Passion. From Gethsemane, we will continue to Mount Zion to visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu and the place of Our Lord’s imprisonment in the palace of Caiaphas. We will conclude the day by walking the path of Our Lord’s Passion to Golgotha and the Church of the Resurrection where we will attend Vespers before the tomb of Christ. Dinner and overnight at Notre Dame. (BB, D)

 

Saturday, July 15: Church of the Holy Sepulchre Jerusalem

Today we will rise early and make our way to the tomb of Christ at the Church of the Anastasis. We will enjoy a tour of the church’s complex, including a visit to the tomb of our forefather Adam and the tombs of Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Notre Dame. (BB, D)

 

Sunday, July 16: Upper Room – Dormition

Our day will begin with the celebration of Divine Liturgy. Then, we will make our way to Mount Zion for a visit to the Upper Room, where the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles at Pentecost. Continue to the Church of the Assumption of Mary. Next, we will make our way to the Kidron Valley and visit the Church of the Dormition, where tradition reveals that the Mother of God was laid in the tomb before her body was taken into heaven. Dinner and overnight at Notre Dame. (BB, D)

 

Monday, July 17: Jerusalem – Flight back to the USA

Full day at leisure. Optional walking visit to Mount of Olives, Tomb of the Prophets, and place of the Ascension of Christ. After dinner, transfer to Tel Aviv for your flight back to the USA. (BB, D)

 

Tuesday, July 18: USA

Arrive this morning in the USA.
